Paderborn holds one of the oldest – if not the oldest – still existing friendship between two European cities. Since 836 the cities of Paderborn in Germany and Le Mans in France are linked by a „fraternitas caritatis perpetua“. Even during war times, the connection between Paderborn and Le Mans enabled dialogue. Their over 1000-year-old friendship resisted the centuries and gave rise to Libori, till today the most important Paderborn festivity. Let us sustain our European heritage and carry it into the future!
