Population of nearly 37 thousand before the war, 30 km from the centre of Kyiv. Fights were taking place from 28 February to 31 March. Columns of russian soldiers were cutting through Chernobyl, Ivankiv. Because of the sheer volume of military equipment concentrated here this direction was most difficult to defend. Ukrainian army was forced to blow the bridge between Bucha and Irpin, used rockets and artillery, airstrikes. Locals were using Molotov cocktails. At the end Bucha turned into a pile of destroyed Russian tanks and armoured vehicles. The local Mayor estimates that nearly half a billion Euro would be needed for reconstruction.
